Madison Central is proud to announce its participation in the MS Scholars Program.  With the encouragement and guidance of business leaders and community volunteers, our students will be encouraged to choose the IHL Recommended Course of Study for graduation.  This program is sponsored by the MS Economic Council which advocates Rigor, Relevance and Relationships in education.  For more information MS Scholars Program, visit

Course of Study for Recognition in the MS Scholars Program:

English – 4 credits must consist of: 

  • English I
  • English II
  • English III
  • English IV

Mathematics -  4 credits must consist of:

  • Algebra I
  • Geometry
  • Algebra II
  • Any one Carnegie Unit of comparable rigor and content

Science – 4 credits must consist of:

  • Biology I
  • Chemistry I
  • Any two Carnegie Units of comparable rigor and content (Physics is preferred)

Social Studies – 4 credits must consist of:

  • World Geography
  • MS Studies
  • World History
  • U.S. History
  • U.S. Government
  • Economics

Arts – 1 credit required

  • One Carnegie Unit of visual and performing arts meeting the high school graduation requirement

Advanced Electives – 2 credits must consist of:

  • Foreign language I
  • Foreign language II

Additional Requirements:

  • 40 hours documented community service for 2014 graduates
  • 16 ACT Composite Score
  • 2.5 cumulative high school GPA
  • 3 letters of recommendation – one each from the following:
    • Principal, counselor, business/community leader for students with more than 4 in-school suspensions
    • 95% school attendance during the 4 years   
    • NO out-of-school suspensions
