"One Book, One School" is a movement designed to get an entire school community involved in the joy of reading. There are daily events and projects that reinforce the book and get everyone involved and excited about the reading experience. Ask your child about the books our entire school will be reading this year!
"To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong." We have created a Makerspace in our library. A Makerspace is a learning environment that encourages tinkering, play and open-ended exploration. If you have legos, magnetic tiles or any other engineering type toy that you would be willing to donate, send it to Mrs. North in our library. Thank you! Robin Preiss Glasser, an American illustrator best known for her work on Jane O'Connor's Fancy Nancy series was at Mannsdale on March 6th. She was the 2013 Illustrator of the Year and Disney Junior has signed to make a TV series about her most famous character. Look for a photo gallery of this fun event under "Author Visits" on our library tab.
Our students enjoyed a production of “Trickster Tales" by Peter Zapletal and his professional puppet crew. Selected children from the audience joined the cast on stage and performed with the puppets made by the company. Details can be found under this link.

MCS is excited to announce that we are approaching the end of our first 1:M Initiative, and over the past three years, the program has changed the way our teachers teach and our students learn. For the 17-18 school year, all high school staff and students will receive a new MacBook Air. We will begin collecting existing MacBooks in May and the deployment of new Macbooks will begin in the summer. Additional information will be provided by your child's school prior to the pick-up process.
There has been great dialogue about allowing the Class of 2017 the opportunity to purchase a MacBook if desired. After extensive review of the legislation regulations that allow public institutions to resale devices to students, it would not be fiscally responsible for us to sell a device to seniors at this time and impossible to sell to general public. We are working with legislators to change the law that would allow this for the future.
