MCS is excited to announce that we are approaching the end of our first 1:M Initiative, and over the past three years, the program has changed the way our teachers teach and our students learn. For the 17-18 school year, all high school staff and students will receive a new MacBook Air. We will begin collecting existing MacBooks in May and the deployment of new Macbooks will begin in the summer. Additional information will be provided by your child's school prior to the pick-up process.
There has been great dialogue about allowing the Class of 2017 the opportunity to purchase a MacBook if desired. After extensive review of the legislation regulations that allow public institutions to resale devices to students, it would not be fiscally responsible for us to sell a device to seniors at this time and impossible to sell to general public. We are working with legislators to change the law that would allow this for the future.
Welcome to Our District
Our motto is “Madison County Schools: Mark of Excellence!” We are strongly committed to offering a challenging education, and that commitment is very evident in the programs and opportunities available to our children. Our goal is not only to help each child reach his or her fullest potential; but also for each child to excel.
Our district has initiated a 1:M (One To Many) laptop program at the high school level, block scheduling in the middle schools, ICT/STEM course offerings beginning in 6th grade, and instituted the first administration of the ACT test to all 11th graders, onsite at the District’s high schools, at no charge to students. Our focus on “Motivate, Educate and Graduate” resulted in over 90% of the 2015 senior class graduating on time.
As you peruse our website, we hope you will find a great deal of helpful information about Madison County Schools’ programs, activities, and upcoming events.
Yours in Education,
Ronnie L. McGehee, Ph. D.
