These kids are readers, thinkers, talkers, and questioners.
They are future doctors, world travelers, scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers... They are our future and I want to inspire them. They need to have "an area that provides hands-on, creative ways for students to design, experiment, and invent as they engage in science, engineering, and tinkering."
A MakerSpace is a metaphor for a unique learning environment that encourages tinkering, problem solving, play and open-ended exploration. I wanted our library to have a creation station full of STEM tools with things like Legos, magnetic tiles and connecting blocks. Resources that allow kids to build and use their imaginations. With a MakerSpace, our library could embrace unique new possibilities and foster problem solving skills in these future leaders. I wanted the students who visit the library to have a spot that fosters creativity in a fun, exciting way. The MakerSpace takes our library to a whole new level.
