We are very excited about the upcoming year in Advanced Art. We are well underway with the basic of paintings but will soon dive into Scholastic Art competition and then onto our wall mural. We plan to have two field trips this year, one in the fall and one in the spring. We also have an exciting Montreal/Quebec trip planned this summer that you can find more information under the Montreal tab.
About the Teachers
Kay Franz is formerly from Baton Rouge, LA, having earner her bachelors in Art Education from LSU. After moving to Mississippi, she received her graduate degree from Mississippi College. Although she loves all art media, her favorite is watercolor. She has been fortunate enough to have taken watercolor classes and workshops from the Gaddis Studio, Wyatt Waters, Judi Betts, Mario Robinson, and others, including a host of students, who inspire her daily! This is her 25th year of teaching art, and she doesn't believe she has taught the same lesson twice yet! She loves teaching and exploring the creative process in a new way each semester.
Born and raised in Jackson, MS. Catie Stoltzfus studied at both Miss State and Univ of Southern Miss where she received her bachelor's in Interior Design and a minor in Art. For a few years after college she owned Paint It My Way in Jackson where she realized her true calling was teaching art not just providing a great venue for it. she went back to school, aka Belhaven, and received her Master's in Teaching. Since then she has held various positions in the Art Education field and is very excited to be at Madison Middle teaching art to all these wonderful students!
