Hello I am Nicole Cockrell. I am so excited to be starting this school year at Mannsdale Upper Elementary as the Literacy Specialist. I had the pleasure to serve as the Literacy Specialist for Mannsdale Elementary last year. I have also had the pleasure of teaching for eight years. I taught third and second grade in Greenwood for five years and second grade for four years in Jackson Public Schools at Poindexter Elementary. I also served as an Interventionist at Poindexter.
I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Delta State University. I then completed a degree in Educational Leadership from Mississippi College, and I just received my Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction also from MS College.
I have been married for fifteen years and we have three children. Demetrous is a senior at Germantown High School, Cameron is a seventh grader at Germantown Middle School, and I have a daughter, Caitlin who is a second grader at Mannsdale. We enjoy our time bowling, playing miniature golf, swimming, and just hanging out watching movies and laughing. One of my favorite pastimes is reading and researching all things that involve education. I do read for pleasure too! :)
My goal as the Literacy Specialist is to provide the necessary support that will assist your child to achieve both academically and socially. I plan to work with you to build confidence and skills that are a struggle for your child. With you and your child's dedication, we will get them back to working independently and with confidence. Teaching children is something that I love and could not imagine doing anything else. So please feel free to call or email me with any questions or concerns. I am sure we will work together to ensure the success of your child.
It is truly a great day to be a Maverick! Especially at Mannsdale Upper Elementary School!
