Mrs. Houghton

A Message from Mrs. Houghton

I am thrilled to be starting my second year as the principal of Mannsdale Upper Elementary.  We have an exciting year ahead.  This year we have moved into our new building, and we are loving it.  There are over six hundred amazing students filling our school, and they are learning what it means to be a Mav.

Mannsdale Upper adopted a Vision and Mission statement and a motto.  We feel that the mission, vision and motto exemplifies who we are and where we want to go in the future.
Mannsdale Upper Elementary School will strive to maintain the highest standard of integrity while developing character, preparing students academically, socially, emotionally, and physically to build a strong foundation for success in all aspects of life. We will provide an enriching education with high expectations in a safe environment, working in partnership with our families, our community, and every person that enters our school.

Mannsdale Upper Elementary School is a learning community committed to building healthy minds, bodies, and character in a safe and caring environment.

I have been married to my husband Corky for twenty-seven years.  We have three children, Haley, Chase and Kelsey.  I enjoy traveling, reading, exercising and hanging out with my family.  I taught third grade in Louisiana, sixth grade language arts in Texas and Mississippi and US History in Mississippi.
I believe that reading is paramount in education and at home.  Reading to and with your children daily is one of the best activities you can do to help increase their vocabulary and comprehension skills, so please read with your children as often as you can.  Please email me at if you have any questions.
