Mrs. Berry is the Library Media Specialist for Camden Elementary School. Her role is to assist Camden Elementary students, teachers, faculty & staff with
using the library resources and checking out library books, materials &

catalog and circulation system is automated through Follett Destiny
software. This computer based automated system allows patrons to search
for needed materials. Our school has 7 computer stations for students and staff to use for library purposes (Accelerated Reader, research, World Book, reports, etc.) All students will be expected to learn
the elements of a story/book and how to properly & effectively use the
Pre-Kindergarten students are scheduled for library classes five times a week. Classes will participate in storytime and theme
studies in addition to their weekly library lessons. Students in grades K-5 are scheduled to come to the library three times a week to participate in library lessons, story time & library book checkout. Kindergarten students will
also participate in story time and create a Mother Goose booklet in addition to
weekly library lessons. Students enrolled in grades PreK-5 will participate in
library lessons on Monday. Students in grades 1-5 will check out library books on Wednesday.
Thursday & Friday will be storytime for students. Extra
library book checkout will be available on Monday-Friday after library lessons and during open checkout times.
Students will take their STAR test and check out library books
beginning in First Grade. The STAR test will be administered in August and December/January to determine the Accelerated
Reading Range (ZPD) of each students' reading
Students enrolled in grades 3-5 will be
required to create a board for this year's Reading Fair. More information can
be found in the section entitled Reading Fair.
About the librarian
Mrs. Berry is the Media Specialist (Librarian) at Camden Elementary. She has been the Media Specialist at CES since August 2011. Prior to becoming an librarian, Mrs. Berry was an elementary classroom teacher. She received my undergraduate degree from
Mississippi University for Women located in Columbus, MS. Afterwards, she
received my master's degree from Belhaven University. The 2016-2017 school year will be her 10th
year working in the field of education.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time
with family, friends, and sorority sisters. She also enjoy attending church,
where she has worked with the youth department. Mrs. Berry is looking forward to making this a
wonderful and successful year as the Library Media Specialist at Camden
