Welcome Message

  • Mrs. Berry is the Library Media Specialist for Camden Elementary School. Her role is to assist Camden Elementary students, teachers, faculty & staff with using the library resources and checking out library books, materials & resources.

Library Classes

  • Camden Elementary School library card catalog and circulation system is automated through Follett Destiny software. This computer based automated system allows patrons to search for needed materials. Our school has 7 computer stations for students and staff to use for library purposes (Accelerated Reader, research, World Book, reports, etc.) All students will be expected to learn the elements of a story/book and how to properly & effectively use the library.
  • Pre-Kindergarten students are scheduled for library classes five times a week. Classes will participate in storytime and theme studies in addition to their weekly library lessons. Students in grades K-5 are scheduled to come to the library three times a week to participate in library lessons, story time & library book checkout. Kindergarten students will also participate in story time and create a Mother Goose booklet in addition to weekly library lessons. Students enrolled in grades PreK-5 will participate in library lessons on Monday. Students in grades 1-5 will check out library books on Wednesday. Thursday & Friday will be storytime for students. Extra library book checkout will be available on Monday-Friday after library lessons and during open checkout times.
  • Students will take their STAR test and check out library books beginning in First Grade. The STAR test will be administered in August and December/January to determine the Accelerated Reading Range (ZPD) of each students' reading level.
  • Students enrolled in grades 3-5 will be required to create a board for this year's Reading Fair. More information can be found in the section entitled Reading Fair.
