Welcome to my webpage!
We are well on our way to being strong math learners! Over the next few weeks, we will continue to review numbers and operations as well as geometry and measurement. Our Math Minutes continue to help with basic math skills-and we do these together in class so I can check for understanding. I believe in teaching math from concrete to abstract, so we will be using lots of hands-on curriculum & manipulatives. My philosophy is: As soon as your child enters my classroom, we become a family of learners working together. Communication is KEY, and there are several ways I will communicate with you this year. First, I will be calling you to let you know of your child's success both academically and with his/her behavior. I will also let you know if there are issues with either. Next, I will send home weekly papers each Monday. This will include samples of work from math and science as well as a copy of your child's behavior log. You will need to sign the papers, and have your child return them on Tuesday. If you came to registration, you received my calling card with all of my information. Please know that your child's success is my main goal, and I want to work with you in every way possible! Please feel free to call or email with any questions, concerns or comments. We are a TEAM!

About the Teacher
I began teaching at the Academic Options Center last January, so I am ecstatic about my first full year! My family and I moved from Arkansas in July, 2011 and I stayed at home during that first semester to make sure my 3 boys had a smooth transition to our new community and school. However, my calling is teaching and I missed being in the classroom. My husband is Process Superintendent at Entergy and helps to manage two fossil fuel plants...one in Vicksburg and the other in Jackson. We have 3 boys (I am outnumbered at my house)-Sam just began 9th grade at Germantown High, Jake Henry is in the 7th at Germantown Middle and little Gabriel is in the 2nd grade at Mannsdale. In Arkansas, I taught Spanish, Social Studies and science (not all at once :)) I have a B.S. in Elementary Education and took the Praxis exam this summer to add Special Education and Family & Consumer Science to my teaching certification. I love to run, crochet and watch any sport my kiddos play!
I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child this year!!
