Forensics (The Speech and Debate) Team

This is the tenth year for the Ridgeland High School Forensics Team.  The team competes in 10 - 12 tournaments in the state over the course of the year.  We also compete in two national competitions.  We compete within the National Catholic Forensic League, and we have had octafinalists, quarterfinalists,  and semifinalists. Consequently, we compete within the National Speech and Debate Association in which we have had semi-finalists, finalists, and placed fourth in the nation in Dramatic Interpretation.
The team has won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in team sweepstakes.   The team has won nine individual state championship titles in: Prose Interpretation (2), Poetry Interpretation (2), Humorous Interpretation, Storytelling, Extemporaneous Speaking, and Lincoln Douglas Debate (2). We have also had two National Forensic League Academic All-Americans.  In 2012 the RHS Forensics team had a member place first in the nation at the National Poetry Out Loud Contest.  This past summer, we had a member place fourth in the nation in the Son's of the American Revolution Oratory Competition.
We compete in speech events, acting/interpretation events, debate, and congress throughout the year.
