About the Principal

As the principal at Olde Towne Middle School since 2002, Lawrence  brings world-wide experience and an appreciation for each individual to his position. Lawrence grew up in a military family. He calls Memphis home as he attended middle school and graduated from high school there. After serving in the Navy, Lawrence pursued education degrees from  the University of West Alabama and the University of Portland (Oregon). He also completed administrative course work at Mississippi College. Lawrence served as education specialist in a mental health facility in Meridian, taught  physical education in Guam, coached at Hardy Middle School in Jackson, served as assistant principal at Madison Central and was the principal at the Madison County Alternative School.

Lawrence encourages students to work hard and to be respectful. If they do the best they can every day, they will be successful at the next level. They will be prepared. Lawrence credits his hard-working staff and faculty for student success. The teachers work hard, and the students respond to that, he says.

In his spare time, Lawrence might be found spending time with his three children, playing  racquetball, (he holds a U.S Open title in racquetball for his age group) or cheering on the Tennessee Volunteers.
