    May 13, 2013 B day students are reviewing today for North and South Polar regions test that is Wednesday;  Today we also do a book check for daily grade and remember to bring it this week as I collect them and if it is not returned, then a fine will be assessed by the school.  Homework is to study for that test tonight for Wednesday. 
     
    May 14, 2013 A day students review for North and South polar regions test that will be on Thursday.  I check textbooks today and take them up today and on Thursday.  A fine is assessed if you do not return the book.  Homework is to study for test on Thursday.

    May 6, A day students will be using individual maps and personal electronic devices to label, research and identify items on maps for North Polar region and the continent of Antarctica with continued focus on feature film about the historical quests for the North and South poles by explorers.  Reminder that State Algebra I test is Wednesday and the first 2 classes of the day will not meet so I will get with A2 class on Tuesday of next week about your special homework assignment from this week instead.  Homebound students check this weeks Lesson powerpoints for copies of assignments and map we are working on in class.
     
    May 7, B day students will have same lesson as Monday above.  Unique discussion and visual show of 'archival' film video footage of race to the North and South Poles via unitedstreaming.com called "Polar Expeditions".   Students will have a critical thinking essay to write and submit from homework on Thursday in class.  This can be typed with 12 font and two pages as one page must be about the characters, climate, conditions, time and events for the race to the North Pole on page 1 and page 2 written or typed must be about the climate, events, characters, time and conditions for the race to the South Pole. Your writing or typing must NOT have any grammar, punctuation or spelling errors.  Homework is to study for map quiz on due ThursdayHomebound students check the Lesson powerpoints on my site for what we are working on in class.
     
    May 8 A day is Algebra I State Test day; classes will meet after the test is over likely during the 3rd block hour at some point.  Assignment for the A3 and A4 classes will be a writing component about the archival historical film from unitedstreaming.com about the race to the North Pole and the South Pole.  Don't for get to start bringing your textbooks next week to turn in and if you do not know where it is, start looking for it to avoid a fine at the end of the year.
     
    May 9, B day Thursday will be North and South Polar regions lesson day with multimedia and interactive student research fun and collection of the writing assignment from Tuesday. 
     
    May 10 A day Friday is State Biology Test day.  Later classes this day will focus on the writing assignment from the Polar regions video and lesson.  Homework assignment to be explained as alternate activity due to testing.

    April 29, B day students have lesson in library with multimedia presentation and interactive lesson on Japan that I derived from my trip in 2010.  Bring something to write with and have fun learning about their culture, economy, population, and people.  Upon return to class on Wednesday look for a quiz on what we learned today.

     

    April 30, A day students will have interactive fun lesson with multimedia use and understand how the culture, people, economy and population of Jaoan is so unique that we actually can learn from it.  Bring something to write with and upon return to class on Thursday we will have a quiz on what you learned today.

     

    May 1, B day Wednesday students that did not get to present Asia or Africa country projects will do so today and we will analyze our film about the tsunami affect on the country of Japan from 2011 feature presentation.  Cause and effect focus on physcial affect on human geography is our theme.

     

    May 2, A day students for Thursday will have same lesson as Wednesday above.  Cause and effect focus of physical geography on human geography.

     

    May 3, B day students will begin lesson on the North and South Polar regions with focus on mapping skills, navigation and historical map video footage from the early 1900s exploration period with focus on world history for next year.

    Monday April 22 students for A day will continue on country work on map and facts and present on Wednesday after the 30 minutes time frame ends.  These are test grades so you must finish then.  No homework.
     
    Tuesday April 23 is plan test day for 5th and 6th blocks and into 7th if necessary.  7th and 8th classes will continue and finish on country maps.
     
    Wednesday April 24 A day is present day on country project maps.
     
    Thursday April 25 B day is present day for country maps. Students in B5 will continue their presenting on Thursday May 2.  Reminder to students for Monday to report to library for my classes as I am doing a lesson on Japan there all day.
     
    Friday April 26 A day students will be viewing a video today about Tokyo as a preview to our lesson on Tuesday in library on Japan.

    April 15, 2013 B day students review today with a practice version of the Asia regions map and begin our Asia country project which also includes chance that you might get an African country to research instead.  Students will be using their smart devices in the class for research on this purpose and also begin to draw the map on white paper with cities and physical features as we have learned that compose a physical and political map combined.  This is a project that will be worked on in class as daily and test grades for future presenting to the class for final test grade.  Bring supplies on Wednesday for this project as Homework and study for your Asia regions map test for Wednesday.  Also for homework be sure to start looking for color pictures about your country and bring them with you this week.
     
    April 16, 2013 A day students have their Asia regions map test today and also begin to choose a nation for their research and map creation for test grade project.  First thing is to take the test as you quietly enter the room.  Make sure you pick up a project sheet today in class about the Asia/Africa nation project.  Homework is to start finding any facts and pictures (color) to bring to class about your chosen nation. 
     
    April 17, 2013 B day students have Asia regions test first thing as you enter quietly.  After the test you begin or continue work on your Asia/Africa nation.
     
    April 18, 2013 A day students work on their Asia or Africa country project map. I will help you with map details on the physical and political components needed.  Presentations for A day students will be on Wednesday April 24.  Use your resources available in the room, you may be able to print any color pictures in library if it is available. 
     
    April 19, 2013 B day students work on their country project map.  I will help you with map details on the physical and political components needed. Presentations for these nation projects according to your information sheet will be for B day classes 7th and 8th (April 23) Because the PLAN test is on Tuesday morning in 5th block and the Awards day is Thursday April 25 we will move your country presentations to Monday April 29.  Your paper must be finished with rough draft attached and turned in by the start of class on April 25 before we leave to go to gym for Awards day program.

    April 8, 2013 A day students will first analyze a do now sheet for unscrambling a hidden message about Asia and then use their political map of Asia to outline the political boundaries of the 5 major different regions within Asia as I perform that task of outlining with you demonstrating it on the smartboard. Students will begin working in smaller groups illustrating and labeling and identifiying 15 different facts about that assigned map region and students will afix pictures on the map creation and communicate the region orally to the whole class upon completion on WEdnesday of this week.  Only homework is to bring pictures per each group for the map project.
     
    April 9, 2013 B day students will assemble in small groups to continue work on the Asia region map and facts and draw each assigned region of Asia as we display on the smartboard together on your political map copy of Asia from last week.  On finsihing these on Thursday in class you will display and orally communicate with the entire class.  Homework is to bring any pictures per each group for your region display.
     
    April 10, 2013 A day students will finish and present their region of Asia maps and facts with pictures glued on from home printer or magazines, etc.
    We will briefly view short films via smarboard about each region of Asia and share with one another the important key facts you have found in your region maps.  Homework map sheet is for you to complete with country names as we will have a practice quiz is Friday on the countries of Asia but it does not count.
     
    April 11, 2013 B day is finish and present day on Asia region displays; look at an Asian region map sheet for practice quiz on the countries of Asia map that we will have for a map test next Wednesday.   We will have a brief video about the reigons and then discuss our Asia or AFrican country project. 
     
    April 12, 2013 A day Today we will practice on what our test next Tuesday will be like for the Asia region countries.  Film about Asia and your displays shown and talked about in class.  We will also discuss our Asian or African country project today and view a few brief film clips or video about Asia regions.  Homework is to study for your map of Asia regions test that will be on Tuesday.

    April 2, 2013 Monday A day students will be reviewing the important terms about Australia and viewing an environmental series of film segments to examine how human geography affects the physical environment we live in and also doing some activities in small group to reinforce and reveiw what we have learned about this region of Australia in what we call Oceania that includes New Zealand, the smaller Pacific Islands and the flattest continent of Australia.  Homework is to study for a test on Australia and the environment that will be on Thursday (map of Australia and NZ is lncluded on that test).  SEE LESSON POWERPOINTS ON MY SITE TO SEE THE REVIEW SHEETS AND MAP AND ANSWERS YOU NEED TO REVIEW FOR OUR TEST ON THURSDAY.
     
    April 3, 2013 B day Wednesday we have same lesson as above for A day; test on Australia and the environment on Friday.  Homework is to study for test on Australia, NZ and the environment that includes a map of Australia and NZ on it.     April 4, 2013 A day Thursday is test day on the Environment and Australia and NZ.  After test students will be labeling a map of the North Polar region and the South Polar region with an atlas that can be shared with a neighbor and working on a survivor sheet about how to survive in one of the polar regions.
     
    April 5, 2013 B day Friday students will have test on Environment and Australia and NZ and after test students will be labeling a map of the North polar region and the South polar region using an atlas shared with another student in the class and also complete a sheet about how to survive in one of these polar regions.

    Mionday March 25, A day students have test on Energy and Resources and then will have an assignment on the environment.   
     
    Tuesday March 26, B day students have test on Energy and Resources then an assignment on the environment. Homework is to finish the key terms for Wednesday if you have not finished them after the test today in class.  WE will also take a look at the map of Australia on Thursday in class and check any maps.  We will review the key terms on Thursday in class about Australia; also film on Thursday about life in Australia.
     
    Wednesday March 27, 2013 A day students will review key terms and finish map and see what important places to know and explore in Australia with a demonstration via Google Earth.  Check student maps for accuracy by smartboard large map.  Film about the Aborigine and life in Australia overall.
     
    Thursday March 28, 2013 B day is same activity as shown above for Wednesday.
     
    NO SCHOOL FRIDAY AS IT IS GOOD FRIDAY.

    Monday B day March 18, students tonight will have an energy homework sheet to keep tally of all items in the house that you use that require electricity watt usage and will maintain on a chart that will be turned in on Friday March22.  This is a homework grade for both Monday and Wednesday.
     
    Tuesday A day March 19, students begin energy discussion and will have a homework sheet to maintain this week about energy elecricity use at home. This sheet is due Monday of next week so that you have time to complete the weekend and list what items use electricity that you have used in the house for the entire week day to dark.  This is going to be a daily grade since it will be all week's homework.  This week we will make a list via computer or handwriting, for the Advantages and Disadvantages of the forms of energy.  If you are absent just begin to type at least 7 advantages and 7 disadvantages of the following energy forms:  1. hydroelectric power  2. solar power   3. wind power  4. geothermal power  5. biofuels   6. fossil fuels   ; Also for homework write on your energy use sheet all week that will be due for A day kids on Monday.
     
    Wednesday B day March 20, 2013 students will review a list of advantages and disadvantages of forms of energy.  You will also begin to research via smartphone or school computer of how to create a brochure thru micosoft publisher that shows advantages and disadvantages to forms of energy or one particular type you find interesting.   The choices for the topics for the energy brochure are shown above under Tuesday.  This should be at least a tri-fold or booklet type brochure as found in publisher version of microsoft.  This is due on Friday for B day and Monday for A day students.  Also for homework remember to write on your energy use sheet all week.  Due for B day on Friday.
     
    Thursday A day March 21, completion of energy brochure or assignment for different blocks; and review for test on energy and resources for Monday.  Homework is to study for energy test for Monday.  Continue to write on your electric energy sheet too.  SEE ANSWERS TO THE REVIEW GUIDE AND THE TRUE FALSE QUESTIONS ABOUT ENERGY ON MY WEBSITE HERE UNDER LESSON POWERPOINTS.

    March 4, 2013 A day is Algebra I test day for the morning hours and normally by the start of 3rd block we will likely be in 3rd block going over our study guide for the 9 week test at the end of the week (Friday) for 3rd and 4th block classes.  today we also simulate earthquakes, volcanoes, tornadoes on a website from National Geographic called Forces of Nature.  After we begin our lesson on Population with a great video called "World in the Balance".  No homework except to study for the 9 week test on Friday using study guide received and reviewed in class today.
     
    March 5, 2013 B day regular classes meet; students will finish the population video and come up with solutions to some problems students have identified in the video and share with the entire class.  Students will also review for the 9 weeks test that is Thursday for 7th and 8th blocks.
