I graduated from Belhaven College with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.  The 2012-2013 school year will be the sixteenth year I have taught at Madison Avenue.  After nine years as a kindergarten teacher at MAE, I "graduated" to first grade.  My goal as a new first grade teacher was to bring the hands-on learning environment with me from kindergarten.  Seven years later, I still look forward to teaching our curriculum in a way that is hands-on and fun because I believe children need to be actively engaged in their learning for the learning to truly have meaning.
