Community: Ridgeland High School opened in August 2002 in the Madison County School District, one of the fastest growing and top-rated school districts in the state of Mississippi. The school is located and serves students with the city limits of Ridgeland and portions of Madison County, a suburban area north of metropolitan Jackson. The area's convenient location, a strong public school system, and easy access to Jackson have made Ridgeland one of the more rapidly developing areas within the metro area.
Accreditation:
RHS is accredited by the Mississippi Department of Education and is a part of the Madison County School District, which has received the designation of "A-rated School District", the highest attainable rating that a district can receive.
Description:
RHS is a public, four-year, comprehensive high school with a strong college-preparatory program. There are currently 888 students enrolled in grades 9-12 for the 2021-2022 school year.
Grading System:
All RHS grades are recorded on the transcript as numerical grades. The letter grade equivalents are: A=90-100, B=80-89, C=70-79, D=65-69, F=0-64. The transcript of a student's work will show both semester and final grades in each course. Transfer students' transcripts are recorded exactly as received from their previous school.
Time Frame:
RHS operates on an 8-period, alternating day, block-scheduling format. There are 4 blocks per day, which are 90 minutes in length. The school year is divided into two semesters, with each containing two 9-week terms.

Accelerated/Advanced Placement Courses:
RHS offers both accelerated and College Board AP courses. The AP courses include Calculus A/B, English Language & Composition, English Literature & Composition, United States Government & Politic, United States History, World History, Chemistry, and Biology.
Post Graduation Statistics:
Eighty percent (80%) of RHS students enroll in college each year after graduation with 40% of graduates going to four-year colleges, 65% going to community college. The remaining 20% are divided among the military, vocational programs, and full-time employment. Ninety percent (90%) attend in-state colleges and universities.
